Audition Video: link on vimeo or youtube, or submit to Dropbox with request.
Please position the camera in front of the applicant to show full height and breadth in pliés and ports de bras; position the camera halfway between front and side for all other sections of the barre to show full range of movements. Position camera for center work to see the entire studio or stage from downstage center.
It is to your benefit to create the best possible conditions for filming. Videos with poor filming conditions are a waste of time, & will not be considered.
Music in the video should be of high quality.
Be aware of the space in which you are filming; the space should have minimal distractions to be reviewed.
Videotapes should have adequate lighting.
Dancer must be clearly visible within the frame for the duration of the recording (Remain in the camera frame at all times).
Review your video before submitting to check for playback quality. Edit out anyone recording themselves while adjusting the camera.
Professionally recorded video is not required. Please do not include quick or frequent edits. Dancer should be seen completing a full dance phrase &/or variation. Full-length view of the dancer’s body at all times. Do NOT crop or cut out parts of the body while recording video. NO close-up of body parts please.
If you are submitting a video of you dancing with a group, please indicate which dancer you are.
It is not necessary to see other dancers perform before you appear, particularly in a section in which you are featured.
Unacceptable Videos include:
Videos older than two years.
Videos that are not representative of you at your current level of fitness. Inaccurate or false, misleading videos will reflect negatively.
Heavily edited video or a video that has one piece of music overlaid over various dance highlights will be ignored. Dancer’s musicality is critical.
Performance videos in which your face, feet, & body are not clearly visible. Blurry, fuzzy, unfocused shots are useless.
Thanks very much.
